Abid Hossain
Lecturer and computational researcher specialising in fluid dynamics, mathematical epidemiology, and evolutionary game theory. NST Fellow. Published in Scientific Reports, Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, and Journal of Nonlinear Mathematical Physics. IJSO medal coach.
Profile
Abid Hossain is an applied mathematician and educator whose work spans computational fluid dynamics, mathematical epidemiology, and evolutionary game theory. Currently a Lecturer in Software Engineering at Daffodil International University and an NST Fellow at the University of Dhaka, he develops models that inform real-world policy — from vaccination strategy optimisation to nanofluid heat-transfer simulations published in Elsevier and Springer journals.
His research has appeared in Scientific Reports, the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, and the Journal of Nonlinear Mathematical Physics, and has been presented at international conferences including JTAC (Budapest), ICMMPE, and the 9th BSME ICTE. He serves as a certified peer reviewer for Springer and Elsevier, and founded both the Applied Mathematics Programming Society and Eduvanta — a platform bridging mathematical theory with AI/ML applications, with 110+ workshop participants to date.
Beyond research, Abid coached Bangladesh's IJSO team, with all six students earning Bronze Medals at the 22nd IJSO in Russia (2025), and has guided 21+ students into university programmes. He balances deep technical expertise with leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to widening access to science education.
